Activities this past year:
The leadership committee provided two exceptional speakers for the May 2011 spring conference "New Advances in Clinical Rehabilitation Practice". Wendy Wintersgill and Felisha Alderson presented "Transformational Leadership: A Shared Vision for Patient & Centered Care". Another duty of the leadership committee is putting together a slate of candidates for the 2011 election. The new board represents nurse leaders from the Delaware Valley.
On June 9th, 2010, the Leadership Committee hosted a Leadership Forum at ReMed. Sharon Murphy Potts, ARN National Regional Director presented Leadership information from an ARN National perspective. Sue McCulley, Nurse Administrator from Moss Rehabilitation/Einstein spoke on leadership from an Administrator/Director of Nursing point of view and Wendy Wintersgill, Rehabilitation Educator for the Center for Rehabilitation at Wilmington Hospital explained how nursing education is transforming to promote hands on simulation training. She shared her model, Environment of Excellence that demonstrates how advanced practice nurses can support the rehabilitation team as it focuses on patient/family centered care. Also at the forum was Eileen Farley, Director of Nursing Operations, Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital.
Activities being discussed in committee meetings:
The Leadership Committee put together a slate of candidates for the 2011 election. The information and survey monkey was emailed to the members for voting. Voting is to be completed by June 9th. If you have not yet received the information, please contact Laura Bitner: Lbittner@mageerehab.org.
The Leadership Committee also is planning a Leadership breakfast with Rehab Leaders in the Greater Philadelphia area. In keeping with the strategic objectives, nursing participation, needs assessment and the development of a leadership forum will be explored.
The Leadership Committee is also developing the criteria and application for a nursing scholarship to the fall National ARN Conference. This will be disseminated through email blast in the near future.
